Back to the roots: Why Nakit Supports the Wittener Tafel

Witten is more than just a place on the map – it's my hometown. This is where I grew up, this is where my roots are. Today, I'm doing well, and with Nakit, I've fulfilled a dream. But success only truly feels good when you share it.

That's why I decided to return to where it all began with our first major donation project: to Witten. From now on, 1 Euro from every piece of jewelry sold will go directly to Wittener Tafel e.V.

Who is Wittener Tafel? (More than just food)

For almost 30 years, Wittener Tafel has been an indispensable anchor for people in our city who need financial support. The team works according to a simple but powerful motto: “Everyone gives what they can.”

The work of the Tafel is more multifaceted than many might think:

• Food rescue: Daily, the Tafel vehicles drive through Witten, collecting surplus, perfectly good food from sponsors and saving it from the bin.

• The Tafel Shop: At Herbeder Straße 22, people with low incomes can get food at symbolic prices. This helps to spare their tight budget and ensures a healthy diet.

• Warmth and community: The Tafel is also a place of encounter. From daily breakfast to freshly cooked lunch (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), it offers space for conversation and social contact.

• Projects for the youngest: With initiatives like “learn & ventilate,” the Tafel even supports primary school children in their first steps in the education system.

Why Wittener Tafel specifically?

In an affluent society, we often forget that poverty exists right next door. Over 600 families in Witten rely on the Tafel's help monthly.

For me, it's a matter of the heart to give something back to the people in my hometown. I want Nakit jewelry not only to shine outwardly but also to ignite a small light in the everyday lives of those who are currently struggling.
